Lady Lamb the Beekeeper @ Hogfarm Studio Annex Tonight!

The incomparable Lady Lamb the Beekeeper will be performing tonight in Biddeford at the Hogfarm Studio Annex. She will be joined by Emily Hope Price, celloist for Pearl and the Beard, who released one of my favorite albums of 2009- "God Bless Your Weary Soul, Amanda Richardson". You definitely want to be at this show.





And don't forget- Friday, January 29th marks the Eternal Otter Records Vinyl Release Party at SPACE Gallery. There will be new vinyl singles featuring unreleased recordings by Cerberus Shoal, Aly Spaltro & TJ Metcalfe (former bandmates in Lady Lamb the Beekeeper), and Blaque Boose. You also get a free copy of one of these singles with your $10 ticket- available now at Bullmoose or online here.

You can also preview these records starting Wednesday, January 27th at SPACE Gallery by visiting the listening stations curated by each of the artists and bands.

The show on the 29th will feature performances by Aly Spaltro, TJ Metcalfe, Blaque Boose, and Panda Bandits. They will also be joined by Dana Gross, Jesse Pilgrim, and Over A Cardboard Sea, who will all be part of a 2nd vinyl series coming out later in the year.

Best Songs of the Decade

Building of Song- First Performance of 2010

Building of Song returned last night for what was likely the very first musical event of 2010. Hangovers and snow kept the streets mostly empty, creating a rather intimate and truly lovely experience. The few people who happened to catch Lady Lamb the Beekeeper's soaring songs and Dominic Lavoie's haunting melodies, seemed to take their words as both reflections on the past year and prophecies for the future. One man climbed to the top of the 5th floor of performance space to tell Dominic that he was, "Singing my soul."

And now, a little treat for these first days of a new decade:

[dog] and [pony] dvd release show

Nick and Krister of [dog] and [pony] celebrated the release of their volume one dvd of local bands with a release show at SPACE this Saturday. They mixed up a lot of interesting musical combinations, including this performance by Aly Spalto (Lady Lamb the Beekeeper) and the Jacob Augustine Band covering Dilly Dilly's Hollerin' Man (from my favorite album of 2009- "Of Art and Intention")



Dilly Dilly has also announced the end of her 6 month hiatus from music and will be returning to the stage with Lady Lamb the Beekeeper on February 2nd at Port City Music Hall.

Jesse Pilgrim also played this Saturday, turning in my overall favorite set, as his band (the Bonfire) careened through their distorted folk punk. Alicia and I were also lucky enough to get Jesse down to the Red Telephone on Sunday for a set of solo songs. I'm hoping to get the Red Telephone archives online again in the near future, so hopefully you'll be able to hear some of those songs soon.
